Hi, my name is Ryan McKay, I have been a full time guitar instructor for over 10 years. I teach beginning to advanced in all ages, and in many different musical styles. My philosophy on teaching guitar is to ensure that the student learns all the tools necessary to achieve their personal goals and most importantly to have fun doing it.

I recognize that each student is different and may require different approaches. Or, some may want to focus on one area or technique. Nearly all of my students learn to read music, and learn basic to very advanced music theory. All students are encouraged to bring in CD's or their personal mp3 players to learn THEIR favorite songs.

Beginning in 2001, I was the main staff guitar teacher at the historic valley music store Metro Music (formerly Arizona Music). Voted best music store to take lessons in the Phoenix New Times, the store served the valley for nearly 50 years before it's closure in 2009.

Recently, I have opened my own teaching studio in Glendale. This has allowed me to expand my schedule. The studio has a relaxed and fun atmosphere that my students rave about.
