CRASH STREET KIDS - TRANSATLANTIC SUICIDE

It came as no suprise to anyone involved in the voting when Crash Street Kids second album 'Chemical Dogs' walked away with the BCFM Sunday Rockshow album of the year award for 2007, despite facing some very stiff competition Chemical Dogs stood head and shoulders over nearly every other rock release last year. It was an album of such quailty it left many of wondering 'how the hell are they gonna follow that?' Well with the release of the bands third opus 'Transatlantic Suicide we now have our answer. Now there is a slightly different vibe about this lastest addition to the CSK's arsenal. It's a far more mature release than it's two predicesors. It's darker, and whilst this album is one to party too; there is now a dark purpose to the party. Chemical Dogs, and the bands debut 'Lets Rock And Roll Tonite' both tended to bop around with an aire of casual abandoned, but 'Transatlantic Suicide' gives off a vibe like the last waltz before the onset of Armageddon. Tracks like 'Berlin' come over like last orders in a Hamburg bar just before it's closed by an anticipated SS raid. 'If we're going to go we are going to go down dancing' type of thing. But please don't think that this is a bad thing. It shows that CSK's have grown, as musicians, as songwriters, as a band that are now well on the way to realising the potential they have been showing for the past few years. All the influences are there to the for; you get big slices of classic Bowie, huge dollops of Mott The Hoople, even touches of Roxy Music and Hawkwind; all dropped into the Shabby Road blender with a bucket of CSK's magic, and the result is one of the best rock and roll albums of the past ten years. (And that is not something I would say lightly) ....read more

CRASH STREET KIDS - CHEMICAL DOGS

Having blown me away with their debut album, 'Let's Rock And Roll Tonite', Crash Street Kids return with their highly anticipated sophmore release, 'Chemical Dogs'. The new album is raw attitude filled rock in its songwriting approach with emphasis on big throbbing hooks, sharp production, and execution. The title track opens the album on a sneer and a bristling beat, and then "Space Rock Time Bomb" announces the band's intent to get your rocks off in a serious way. "Motor City Nazz" and "Sweet Sexation" are pure glam rockers that echo the ghost of Marc Bolan and old T. Rex. The evolution of this band has grown ten fold. Proving they are well on their way in becoming the "SUPERSONIC ROCK AND ROLL KINGS OF THE SCENE". Invigorating album that combines many styles in a melting pot and never looses momentum. Overall, this is a must-hear record, and I recommend it highly. 'Chemical Dogs' bonifide rock and roll recording is sure to satisfy! What are you waiting for then?!! Get your hands on this CD and "COME DIG THE SUPERSONIC STAR SHOW"!

CRASH STREET KIDS - LET'S ROCK AND ROLL TONITE

If you take the image of T.Rex, early David Bowie, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band and mix it with Robin Zander meets Dave Grohl vocal bravado, throw in a pinch of Slade, Ramones, and maybe Mott the Hoople, shaken, not stirred, you get Crash Street Kids. Ryan McKay, A.D. Adams, Ricky Serrano, Ryan "Deuce" Gregory. Their songs are catchy with riffs worthy of any classic 70's rock album. As is evident right off the bat once you hit with, the rocking "C'mon, C'mon", "Sugar Queen" and a killer rendition of Mott The Hoople's, "All The Young Dudes". A pity that Marc Bolan or Ian Hunter weren't involved. It would have just added luster to an already outstanding rock and roll band. 'LET'S ROCK AND ROLL TONITE' is a wonderfully glam and rocking album that you should never be without if you like loud guitars with really smart arrangements and incredible musicianship. Crash Street Kid's 'LET'S ROCK AND ROLL TONITE' is the kind of disc where new sonic details emerge even after multiple repeated listenings. There is more harmonic inventiveness and sheer melody in this one disc than most groups are able to come up with in their entire careers. 'LET'S ROCK AND ROLL TONITE' comes highly recommended. Guaranteed EARGASM!

UNDRESSED - A TRIBUTE TO KISS

KISS Undressed is the brainchild of Alexx Michael from the band Shameless. "Undressed" takes the tribute concept in a new direction focusing entirely on the material from KISS' "Unmasked" album. While that album may not have been overly popular in the United States, it did well in other international markets. Additionally, one of the complaints about the album was in regards to the production which was considered too soft and polished for KISS. A tribute on an album level offers a chance for some "what if's" to be addressed. With 16 tracks several songs get multiple treatments. In terms of professional appearance of product "Undressed" rates right up there with "Return Of The Comet" for quality.

...Ryan McKay does essentially the only thing possible thing with "Shandi" and reduces it to a minimalistic piece of acoustic guitar and guitar case for precussion. The result shows just how touching the piece can be...

South Seventeen returns with a groove heavy record that dwarfs it's predecessor. Larger than life production captures the songs that have quickly made them one of the hottest live acts in Phoenix.
